Acetylene

ALVIGO offers an advanced technology for acetylene production by the method of oxidative pyrolysis of methane, occurring at a temperature of 1400 - 1500°C and atmospheric pressure. The methane conversion rate in the thermal decomposition reaction reaches 85%. The conversion rate of methane to acetylene is around 30%, while the acetylene content in the decomposition and combustion products of natural gas is about 8%.
The process parameters, equipment layout, and automation system are designed in accordance with modern energy efficiency and safety requirements. To ensure safe conditions, the compression process for pyrolysis gases and crude acetylene, as well as the acetylene concentration process, is conducted at a pressure safe for acetylene's explosive decomposition. A selective solvent, N-methylpyrrolidone, is used to extract acetylene from the pyrolysis gases.
A two-loop solvent circulation system has been adopted in the concentration unit, which reduces the deposition of polymers in the equipment.
