Acetic Acid

The ALVIGO Group of Companies offers an advanced technology for the production of acetic acid through the carbonylation of methanol with carbon monoxide. The process parameters, equipment layout, and automation system are designed in line with modern energy efficiency and safety standards. This technology is highly competitive with global analogs and offers several advantages:
• Use of inexpensive and readily available raw material – methanol;
• High conversion rate of methanol into acetic acid (close to 100%);
• Efficient use of synthesis heat for the evaporation of crude acetic acid before distillation, which allows for the full removal of reaction heat from the reactor;
• Low energy consumption of the process and high-quality end product;
• High degree of automation;
• High level of safety.
The reliability and stability of production are ensured by the flexibility, safety, and operational reliability of the system. The flexibility of the process allows for stable operation within the range of 75% to 110% capacity. The safety of the plant is based on the application of modern safety requirements. The reliability of the production process is achieved through the use of technological solutions and processes that have been verified under industrial conditions.
The method for obtaining carbon monoxide (the raw material for acetic acid) from synthesis gas is based on widely established industrial-scale technological processes, such as:
• Purification of synthesis gas from carbon dioxide by absorption with a methyl diethanolamine (MDEA) solution;
• Cryogenic separation of gas mixtures (H2 + CO) to isolate carbon monoxide.
